US Stock Market Live: Futures on Wall Street have begun trading on Sunday evening US time on a negative note amidst rising uncertainties on trade and geopolitical tensions. Both US and China traded barbs over the weekend for violating a trade agreement that was reached in Geneva last month, which was touted to be a potential thaw between the world’s largest economies. US has accused China of curbing the exports of rare earth magnets and other key minerals, while China has called out the US for their curbs on semiconductor exports. Additionally, US President Donald Trump also announced that he will be doubling the tariffs on steel and aluminium to 50% from 25% but other specific details on what this will entail remain absent. Rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine have also sent oil prices higher. All of this has resulted in futures trading lower, indicating a cautious start to the new trading month. Wall Street had their best month since November 2023 after benchmark indices gained up to 6% in May. The US Dollar index is back at 99, while haven assets like Gold have seen buying.
