A recent trip to the gas station led to a Canadian lottery player driving off with a winning lottery ticket in hand.
Lee Ann Nahanee of Parksville, B.C., was filling up her car when she decided to check her ticket for the May 28, 2025, Lotto 6/49 draw.
“I was at a Shell gas station in Nanoose and the retailer checked the ticket,” Nahanee said of the moment she discovered she won. “She turned to me and said, ‘You just won one million dollars!’
“I don’t even remember how I drove home; I was bawling. I kept saying ‘just get home, just get home.’”
Nahanee bought her winning ticket at the Temple Food Store on Highway Island West in Parksville.
She shared that she was most excited to tell the good news to her closest friends, whom she describes as her “second family.”
“They were so happy for me,” explained Nahanee, who went out for breakfast with her friends to celebrate. “They know how much this meant for me.”
Nahanee added that she plans to invest her winnings for retirement and also wants to purchase a brand-new car.
After she claimed her $1 million prize at BCLC, Nahanee also plans to “play couch potato with the biggest pizza [she] could get.”
When asked how it feels to hit the jackpot, Nahanee exclaimed joyously, “I feel fan-freaking-tastic!”
