4 sectoral mutual funds offer negative returns in 2024. Have you invested in any?

Four sectoral mutual funds, all international, have offered negative returns in 2024 so far. During the mentioned period, around 208 sectoral and thematic funds existed.

HSBC Brazil Fund lost the most of around 16.09% in 2024 so far. Mirae Asset Global Electric & Autonomous Vehicles ETFs FoF lost around 3.90% in the period.

Mahindra Manulife Asia Pacific REITs FOF and DSP Global Clean Energy FoF lost around 2.41% and 0.52%, respectively, in the said period.

The toppers on the list were from pharma, healthcare and infrastructure sector funds. HDFC Pharma and Healthcare Fund and ICICI Pru Pharma Healthcare & Diagnostics (P.H.D) Fund gave 41.63% and 41.23%, respectively, in the mentioned period.


LIC MF Infra Fund and LIC MF Healthcare Fund gave 40.13% and 39.11%, respectively, in the mentioned period. SBI Healthcare Opp Fund delivered 35.27% return in 2024 so far. Mirae Asset NYSE FANG+ETF FoF offered 33.83% return in the same period. Invesco India Infrastructure Fund and Invesco India PSU Equity Fund offered 29.02% and 28.95% returns, respectively, in the mentioned time period.Mirae Asset S&P 500 Top 50 ETF FoF offered 27.60% return in 2024 so far. ICICI Pru Transportation and Logistics Fund and ICICI Pru Exports & Services Fund offered 26.59% and 26.50% returns, respectively.

Edelweiss Gr China Equity Off-Shore Fund gave 17.48% returns in the period. In 2024 so far, Axis Greater China Equity FoF offered 16.34% returns.
