Elon Musk has been regularly talking to Russian President Vladimir Putin, discussing personal topics as well as business and geopolitical tensions, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
At one point, according to the Journal, Putin asked Musk to refrain from activating his Starlink service over Taiwan as a way to help the leader of China, Xi Jinping.

Musk has been campaigning for former President Donald Trump, investing tens of millions of dollars to help his effort to return to the White House. Musk’s role has been so extensive that Tim Walz, the Democrats’ vice presidential nominee, has jokingly referred to the X, Tesla and SpaceX CEO as Trump’s running mate.
Trump has suggested that Musk would have a part in his administration. Musk’s companies have dozens of contracts with the U.S. government.
Musk has not yet commented on the report. A Kremlin spokesman told reporters that the Journal report was “not true,” according to Reuters.
